The review is devoted to a new publishing project, which focuses on the conceptual foundations of the Christian theology of education. The paradigm of education proposed in it, in the name of which the word “theology” is in the first place, indicates that education is given a theologically significant status, it is built in the perspective of the basic values of human existence associated with God-human relations. And only by building this vertical, and nothing else, education can become a system of socio-cultural identity, and, consequently, a factor of national security. Due to the fact that each section of the monograph is prepared by a high-level specialist in a particular field of knowledge, a kind of stereoscopic effect arises. The volume and multidimensionality of the consideration of the discussed paradigm ensures its scientific validity and elaboration. Systematically and with an encyclopedic scope, the monograph presents the historical genesis of Christian education, starting from its ancient and Old Testament protoforms. Of particular value are the sections devoted to the analysis of the most valuable developments of the domestic pedagogical heritage, which, without exaggeration, has no equal in the world — such an analysis must necessarily precede its actualization. The presence in the team of authors of well-known scientists teaching both in religious and secular universities, united by their involvement in modern Russian education, testifies to the relevance and importance of the problems considered in the monograph.
